Bare mountain

Next weekend marks the start of our ski season at Willard Mountain, so on this last day of the holidays we headed over there to get measured up and pick up our lift passes.

The mountain was a bizarre sight.  They've had just as little snow as we have, but they have managed to make some of their own - enough to cover just a few of their runs, with large expanses of grass everywhere else.  Needless to say, they are (like us) hoping that a whole lot of the real thing will fall soon.  Lack of snow has to be a worrying proposition if that's entirely what your business depends on (like the local cross-country ski areas).

Elsewise today, we've got on with things at home.  I'm immersed in a Five Rivers project which is demanding quite a bit of crafty creativity from me (more on that tomorrow).  The kids have sat down and written their Christmas thank you letters. We're all trying to come to terms with the fact that tomorrow we'll have to drag ourselves out of bed early and stagger back into our routines...
